I decided to recreate some old stages in Stage Builder, and remade Dream Land from Smash 64 and Melee! I wanted to make the stage as close to the original as possible. Since sharing isn’t up yet, you will have to copy my layout in Stage Builder. I recommend bringing up this post on your computer, just so it’s easier to copy. Perhaps upscaling the image slightly will make it easier to see. The size is set to large.
I used various screenshots of the Melee version that included things like stage collision, camera, blast lines, and Mario. Mario was used as a reference to recreate the size of the Stage Builder’s grid lines. From that, I could make the size and shape of the stage as close to the original as possible with the least amount of errors.
The distance between the stage and the camera’s top and bottom perimeter was averaged between the height of the camera boxes of the Stage Builder and Dream Land. I got the distance between the top of the camera and top of the main platform of Dream Land. I also got the difference between the bottom of the camera and the bottom of the main platform. That got me a ratio that put the stage where it is.
Unfortunately, inconsistencies are going to exist. The size of the platforms are slightly inconsistent. For example, Dream Land’s main platform was actually was around 39.8 blocks wide. So I had to bump that up to 40. The large stage blast lines are shorter than Dream Land’s, but also wider. Of course, That really isn’t something I can fix.
